Michael Chabon is returning to the John Adams with his new book Moonglow, translated into Maangloed by Dutch publisher Ambo Anthos. In this book, Chabon explores – with his typical eloquent prose, larger than life characters, and his dry, absurd wit – the boundaries of fact and fiction through a fictionalized memoir of his own family history. The narrator’s grandfather is on his deathbed, and begins to recount his life’s adventures, from his childhood in Philadelphia to his experience as a soldier during the invasion of Germany, his imprisonment in New York, his wife’s commitment to an insane asylum, and, finally, their old age in Florida and in Oakland, where he lies dying, speaking with his grandson. The Guardian called Moonglow “a bold, rich return to form,” and “the work of a master at his very best.”
