The Gargash mosque is one of Dubai’s first, if not the first mosque designed by a woman in the united Arab Emirates. The ‘Mosque of Light’ is not yet officially open, but architect Sumaya Dabbagh – herself a Saudi, but founder in 2008 of Dabbagh Architects in Dubai – took me to visit it. It is strikingly contemporary and beautiful, a contrast in its pristine whiteness to the surrounding industrial neighborhood. Read my article and view more photo’s below:
