Filmmaker en grafisch vormgever Lex Reitsma heeft vier jaar gewerkt aan zijn film ‘Boom Maakt Boek’, over boekontwerper Irma Boom. De kijker leert haar niet kennen, maar ziet wel duidelijk met welke totale overgave en begeestering Boom het resultaat bereikt dat haar voor ogen staat. ,,Ik kan alleen werken met opdrachtgevers die mij vertrouwen, en die ik vertrouw.”
One of the reasons I love Amsterdam is because there is always something unexpected happening – like a choir singing classical music on a boat in the canal and a whole parade of naked cyclists passing by my kitchen window. No wonder more and more people want to live here. But how to house them all? I spoke about this with Esther Agricola, head of Planning and Sustainability of the city of Amsterdam. And again lots of parties this week: I went to the Rijksmuseum garden party (tout everybody is there) surrounded by the artworks of Jean Dubuffet and the Fontana Gallery summer party. At my weekly radio gig I talked about the renovation of Rotterdam’ s iconic Maastunnel and sang a happy birthday song for my husband Baptist.
Als de Spaanse architect Antonio Ortíz had geweten dat hij dertien jaar lang met het Rijksmuseum bezig zou zijn geweest, dan had hij wel Nederlands geleerd, zegt hij. Het is lang en pijnlijk proces geweest, maar nu hij door enkele dagen voor de opening door het museum loopt, is hij tevreden. Het Rijksmuseum heeft voor het eerst in dertig jaar een nieuw logo. Het stoere, heldere ontwerp is van de internationaal bekende grafisch vormgever Irma Boom.
