This second episode of Waterproof is all about ‘The Salty Intruder’. All over the world, arable land is becoming more and more saline, threatening farmers’ livelihoods and our food security. But there are smart, innovative people looking for solutions – and the Dutch are helping, for example with a new Virtual Reality game to teach farmers to plant salt tolerant crops. hun werken in acht landen vormen ze het middelpunt van een boek en een tentoonstelling van fotograaf Luuk Kramer.

De cultuurvloggers van Shot of Culture maakten deze superleuke video over Waterwijs, de tentoonstelling die ik als gastcurator heb samengesteld voor het buitenmuseum van het Zuiderzeemuseum.

De Rijkswaterstaat-publicatie ‘De Lichtkogel’ heeft deze keer als thema ‘Publieke waarde’. Ik werd geïnterviewd over de groeiende rol van water, niet alleen als technische aangelegenheid maar vooral als sociaal vraagstuk. Water is ook nog een primaire levensbehoefte: “Voor olie is er een alternatief, voor drinkwater niet.” Lees het interview hier: ‘Water wordt een sociaal vraagstuk’

In deze souterrain aan de Marnixstraat in Amsterdam ligt een laag water van een paar centimeter diep. Tegen AT5 zegt de bewoner, terwijl hij wijst naar zijn rubberlaarzen: ‘Dit zijn mijn nieuwe huisslippers’. AT5 vroeg aan mij: waar komt die wateroverlast vandaan? En wat doen we eraan? Kijk hier:
