De Amerikaanse fotograaf Wright Morris vertelde met zijn foto’s het verhaal van zijn land in crisistijd – zonder gezichten erbij. Geboren in 1910 in Lone Tree, Nebraska, de wide open spaces bleven aan hem trekken, ook toen hij allang in de grote stad woonde – want daar op het platteland lag voor hem het échte Amerika.
